Create a Relational Database in under 5 minutes

Build Real Business Applications Without SQL or Programming

See how quickly you can build a working relational database in under five minutes and without writing code.

In this demo, we create a simple Client and Call tracking application from scratch. You’ll see how easy it is to:

  • Create relational database tables
  • Set up a one-to-many relationship between Clients and Calls
  • Build data-entry forms
  • Add required fields and validation
  • Create a dashboard
  • Add a Client grid with related Call records
  • Enter a client and three related calls

Traditional relational database development often requires knowledge of tables, keys, relationships, joins, SQL, forms, and application programming. SoftEXIT Studio turns that work into simple visual configuration.

No SQL. No complicated programming. No specialized database knowledge.

SoftEXIT Studio is designed to make building real business applications fast, understandable, and accessible.

Build a Relational Database in Under 5 Minutes — Video Transcript

0:01
In less than five minutes, we’re going to build a working relational database and application in SoftEXIT Studio.

0:10
We’ll start by creating a new solution. No database server setup, development environment, or programming project is required. We simply give our application a name and create it.

0:40
Our first table is Client. Creating a table is as simple as giving it a name. Studio takes care of the underlying database structure for us.

0:53
Now we add the fields we need for the client. In this simple example, we only need a name and phone number. There’s no SQL, schema scripting, or database programming involved.

1:15
Next we create our Call Log table, where we’ll record the individual calls made for each client.

1:29
Here’s where we create the relational database. We set Client as the parent of Call Log. A Client can have many related Call records, while each Call belongs to a single Client. Studio manages the relationship automatically without requiring database programming.

1:59
With the database structure finished, we can build our Client input form. We simply create the form and place the fields where we want them.

2:14
Form behavior is configured visually as well. We can make fields required and add validation directly through the field properties, without writing validation code.

2:40
Now we create the Call Log form the same way.

2:54
We add the call date and notes fields, set the appropriate defaults and validation, and the second input form is ready. Again, this is configuration rather than programming.

3:15
At this point, our relational database and both data-entry forms are complete. Now we can put them together into something the user can actually work with.

3:31
We create a view group for Calls, giving users a simple place to manage this information.

3:43
Inside that view, we add a Client grid. Studio already knows about the relationship we created, so the client and its related calls can work together naturally.

3:57
Now let’s use the application. We add our first client and save the record.

4:14
From the client, we add the first call. Notice that the call already knows which client it belongs to.

4:23
We add a second call using the same simple form.

4:33
And then a third. The parent-child relationship is handled automatically by Studio.

4:42
In under five minutes: a relational database, two validated forms, a view and client grid, one client, and three calls.

No SQL. No complicated programming. No specialized database knowledge. Just SoftEXIT Studio.
